Autumn Reset
2019 work wardrobe update #2
Whilst I’m looking forward to a good night’s sleep without the buzz of an air conditioner or mosquito attack, the shift from summer to autumn can come with some wardrobe challenges.
Any transition requires adjustment but I view this as a perfect opportunity to take stock of the items we’ve had at the back of the wardrobe for months… and maybe consider a few well-considered new purchases too.
Looking at your clothes with fresh eyes can yield excellent results. Consider mixing items in new ways, adding new accessories, wearing things differently (rolling up trousers, knotting a shirt front) or even a simple alteration can breathe new life into an old favourite.
Once you have a handle on what you’ve got, you may be able to identify some gaps to be filled with worthy additions to elevate your autumn wardrobe.
So if you’re feeling ready for an update, consider some of the looks below which for me, encapsulate what’s going on for autumn.
The PANTS Suit
This autumn is a good time to make friends with the suit. Baggy, tailored or cropped they all work layered over a sweater and covered with a coat for particularly cold days. The pants suit can also straddle the transition point with a t-shirt for the warmer days.

Statement coat
This season’s most photogenic coats fall into two camps: bold checks or oversized and fuzzy. They elevate an outfit from pedestrian to traffic stopping and have the added bonus of actually keeping you warm!

Boiler suit
With the temptation to hit the snooze button becoming harder to resist, the lure of a one-piece to simplify morning dressing is super seductive. This nod to a military look works well in a neutral shade and can be dressed up for work.
